BECTA Projects

Doncaster South CLC, working in partnership with Secondary Schools across Doncaster, were involved in the BECTA Repurpose, Create and Share project. 

Maths teachers were involved with a project based around constructions and using a scientific calculator. The project involved the creation of e-learning resources and video content, to support the teaching and learning of the topics. 

History teachers were involved with a project based around local history. The project involved a series of interviews with local people with experiences of the Second World War, life working in the mines, as well as life in the Doncaster Plant Works. The project involved the creation of e-learning resources, incorporating the video content and other repurposed sources.

Ecomschool

Ecomschool is a pilot educational resource supporting KeyStage 4 level learning in ICT. In particular, the resources are being developed to support OCR Nationals in ICT: Unit 8 – Technological Innovation and E-commerce, but they could also be useful to other ICT qualifications and more advanced level study.

What is it for?

The purpose of the e-Learning Portal is to provide a safe environment in which students, parents, teachers, staff, Governors and the Local Authority can share information and resources and work together. 

What will I use it for?

The Portal has many uses for teachers, students, and students’ parents. 

As a parent you can: 

  • Set up a personal diary to keep up-to-date with information about your child and their school.
  • Send & receive emails.
  • Discuss topics & chat with other parents.
  • See how well your child is doing, including progress, timetable, homework & attendance.
  • Receive updates about your child’s school from a Bulletin Board.

As a teacher you can: 

  • Become a member of a specialist group, i.e. science, and share ideas & expertise in key topic areas.
  • Set up a personal diary to keep up-to-date with your classes.
  • Send & receive emails.
  • Discuss topics & chat with other teachers.
  • View/use resources from other schools on the network, or upload your own.
  • View & update pupil information.
  • Receive updates about your school from a Bulletin Board.

As a student you can: 

  • Set up a personal diary to keep up-to-date with your school life & your social life.
  • Send & receive emails, and chat online with your friends.
  • Look for extra information that your teacher has set up to help with your work.
  • Look at videos & websites that your teacher has selected for you.
  • Use the forums or email to discuss your homework with classmates- at school or at home!
  • Receive updates about your school from a Bulletin Board.
  • View information about school events.
